Clear Poreformance: Not Tested on Animals

All Clear Poreformance products are cruelty free. No animal testing was performed during the research and development or trials of our products. The owners of Clear Poreformance strongly believe in the ethical treatment of animals. Therefore, you can be assured that no animal was harmed in the production of any Clear Poreformance product.

Animal Testing for Cosmeceuticals is Cruel and Unnecessary.

Animals such as rats, rabbits, dogs, and monkeys are sometimes subjected to painful procedures in order to determine the efficacy or side effects of new beauty products. The owners of Clear Poreformance disagree with this practice and chose to use new, innovative testing methods to develop their products.

The FDA does not require animal testing for cosmetics, skin care products or cosmeceuticals, however many skin care companies continue to test on animals. There are many new methods available, including stem cell research as well as volunteering human participants. The owners of Clear Poreformance disagree with animal testing on what they consider to be non-vital experiments, like testing for make-up products and cosmetic medicines (medicines for symptoms that are not critical or dangerous).

Cruelty-free Occular Irritancy Test

In Vitro ocular irritancy testing was used to test the potential irritancy of Clear Poreformance products. Ocular Irritection assays are standardized and quantitative in vitro acute ocular irritation tests, which utilize changes of relevant macromolecules to predict acute ocular irritancy of chemicals and chemical formulations.

The Ocular Irritection assay, depicted schematically in Figure 1 (below), provides significant advances over the in vivo Draize test method. The Draize eye irritation assay has been criticized because of the large variability of results obtained from different laboratories that have analyzed the same specimen.

(fig. 1) The Ocular Irritection Model

The quantitative Ocular Irritection in vitro assays have been found to be highly reproducible. Of even greater relevance, the Ocular Irritection assay methods can be readily employed to evaluate multiple samples at varying volumes or concentrations. Thus, these tests serve as extremely useful screening tools that facilitate all stages of raw material selection, formulation development and final product selection.
